Netflix Hack Day is an annual internal event where colleagues are encouraged to drop their typical work and make something that otherwise wouldn’t get prioritized. There’s a range of concepts from useful (and sometimes implemented) to silly.
I formed and led teams in 2021 and 2022, winning categories in UI and productivity both years.

For the 2021 Hack Day, we developed a working prototype for a concept called “Where Was I?” The project uses OpenTimelineIO to bring typically dead-end production data in breakdowns and one-liners to use on the Netflix platform as chapter markers.
Our hack was featured on the Netflix Tech Blog and presented as part of the Academy Software Foundation’s Open Source Days in 2021.
