Sometimes I get to the end of the year and feel I haven’t accomplished enough. When I review my Camera Roll, I realize why I’m so tired. 2017 was an exhausting year for a lot of reasons. But so many good things happened, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

• Started the new year in Iceland.
• Joined the Women’s March in Los Angeles and hosted a follow up group.
• Helped host a BCPC panel on being an assistant editor – diverse in race, ethnicity, and gender.
• Committed to run for office in the next 2-4 years and began to learn about that process thanks to Mount Saint Mary’s and apply for state commissions.
• Worked on an independent feature in Albuquerque.
• Welcomed my closest friend to LA.
• Trekked to San Fransisco to be on Adobe’s Making It show.
• Celebrated one year of BCPC in Los Angeles.
• Took up gardening in my local community garden.
• Attended Avid Connect and NAB and launched manelsinpost.com.
• Hosted a BCPC meet-up in Vegas, and helped get 3 post professionals to NAB for the first time.
• Participated in a panel on gender equality in Post Production World.
• Became president of BCPC.
• Helped (in very small ways) to launch a crafting circle for BCPC.
• Started work on season 4 of Scorpion.
• Attended a leadership conference and made solid plans for career moves.
• Visited the coast with friends.
• Made a presentation to MPEG about why women leave post production.
• Celebrated a friend’s wedding in Joshua Tree.
• The Great American Eclipse, of course.
• Hosted a BCPC panel on the VFX pipeline in post – diverse in race, ethnicity, and gender.
• Shot a courthouse wedding in Ventura.
• Visited London alone.
• Hosted a BCPC meet-up in London too.
• Attended the Creative Arts Emmys as a guest and got to cheer her on.
• Hosted international students and taught them about post.
• Programmed a panel on working in unscripted television – diverse in race, ethnicity, and gender.
• Co-authored and presented a paper on why diversity programs fail at the SMPTE tech conference.
• Worked on the SMPTE tech conference programming committee and co-chaired the workflow session.
• Took time to enjoy fall: a major feat for my schedule.
• Attended Adobe MAX as press.
• Attended training on running for office in Minnesota with Vote Run Lead.
• A quick detour to NYC.
• Time to myself for tea.

What I love about this year and these pictures: so many friends I was able to fight to find time to connect or reconnect with, so many new circles of women I’ve been exposed to, and so much diversity in the programs I was involved in.
